She’s 1!

// October 22nd, 2008 // No Comments » // Friends, family, sophia

WOW! We had a fun time this past weekend celebrating our little girl turning 1! Lots of family, cupcakes, and memories! We are thankful to everyone who shared it with her (and us!) and are blessed to have all of you in our lives!

On Thursday (her birthday), we did a little “mini” celebration for Soph. I had my last softball game (team from work) that evening, so we decided to have a little picnic at the park before the game started. My parents were able to make it out, and then take us to eat Ben & Jerry’s ice cream afterwards. Here are some pictures!

On Saturday, we threw Sophia a little 1-year-old party. Jen made it look great–using Soph’s favorite book as the theme: The Very Hungry Caterpillar. After picking up the cupcakes, we made our way over to Mimi & Papi’s house to get all set up. The previous night we painted, ironed-on letters, and tried to make sure we had everything squared away. After all was said and done, Soph sure enjoyed her special day (and her first cupcake) and we were glad to spend it with all our family and friends! Here are some pictures from the party!

California Dreamin’

// October 16th, 2008 // No Comments » // family, sophia

A couple weeks ago Sophia and I were able to go to California to visit family (briefly) and go to my cousin Lindsey’s wedding. Even though the trip was really short (departed ATL Thursday after work; left LAX at 2 pm on Saturday), we had a fun time hanging out with family (Grandparents, cousins, Aunts/Uncles). Soph did extremely well considering the circumstances–nonstop 4.5 hour flight, 3 hour time difference, different surroundings, long wedding day/night, and then to turn around and take direct flight back home. She was a trooper! All along the way she made friends (playing peek-a-boo with a couple ladies behind us on the flight to Cali) and was making everyone laugh (she was glued to her “corn”–always had it in her mouth).

Hilton Head Island

About a month ago, Jen, Sophia and I were able to take a short trip to Hilton Head! It was very relaxing! Each day our schedule looked like this: wake up, go out for breakfast, go to the beach, hang out in the room during the heat of the day (aka take a nap, watch a movie), go to the pool in the afternoon, and then just hang out for the rest of the night after dinner. We had a fun time on our first family vacation!

Rock On!

For one of her birthday gifts, Jen and I got Sophia her very own guitar. Now she can rock out just like her Daddy! From the looks of it, she’s already getting the hang of things. :)

Soph in the Slammer

Here’s a picture of Soph in the slammer (in other words, behind the table chair which makes it look like prison bars). Like this example, one of things we love about her is that she is always so happy!

She’s a little nutty

Jen went to have dinner and hang out with a friend from church last night, so it was just me and Soph at home. I took her on a short walk around the neighborhood, and judging from the likes of the picture I took afterwards, she enjoyed herself. Either that, or she really likes the outfit that Uncle Pren got her when he was in South Africa. :) Regardless, she’s a little nutty!
